Rumblin at the TSQ’s Ready to Rumble Training Camp

TSQ’s Ready to Rumble Training Camp

These past weeks have been AWESOME!.  I‘ve been able to take part in TWO team camps/clinics  here in my back yard and ride with a whole slew of cyclists, even the three time Time Trial Champion of Ireland!  Here are a few of the many cool things that I was witness to.

An awesome event put on by the one and only Giana Roberge . There was an amazing talent pool of fast riders present from Peanut Butter & Co 2012 including Olivia Dillon, Coryn Riviera , Alison Starnes, Hanan Alves- Hyde, Taylor Wiles and Alisha  Welsh… to name just a few.

I have followed 3 of the racers throughout their amateur careers those being Olivia while at Touchstone,  Coryn with Proman and Alison with Tibco.  I have watched them live.....in action at Nor Cal NCNCA races including Sea Otter, Madera and a slew of other races.  It is so cool to watch them grow into the great racers they are today.   I also met 2 racers from Utah that recently joined PB & Co 2012, Taylor and Alisha who I will be adding to my  “race radar” watch.   All are so humble and down to earth . This team will dominate the NCR series as the # 1 team without a doubt

The first day was a descending clinic which was cool to be able to take part in and watch the elite racers jockey for position in the first corner and then continue down pursuing their prey.  Although this was a “camp”, this was serious stuff.  If you were not going forward, you were getting shot out the back!   Unfortunately I I missed the 2nd day which included TT efforts, individual and team.

The 3rd day was a climbing day, and hey, you know me......climbing is not my forte, but Cavedale is not as bad as Geysers so away I went.  The day started out way too cold but nothing was going to stop this group.  Up and up and up.  We regrouped at the top and then, in a whoosh................the elite group was off for an extra 25 miles and us saner ones got to head back for some well deserved grub.  The camp was well run with sag, great food, bike fits and massages available along with roundtable discussions during lunch.  Day 4 was focused on sprinting and it was an awesome sight to see these elite athletes in action .  Can’t wait for the next one to be held in July!
